Program Director

What we’re looking for: The Program Director coordinates the daily services of the shelter in alignment with CHC’s strategic goals, ensuring service delivery meets guest needs and stakeholder expectations. Responsibilities include overseeing shelter operations, food and nutrition programs, and street outreach. Under the Executive Director, the Program Director leads staff in providing coordinated, professional, and respectful support services to our guests through well-informed practices.

The right candidate will have

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services related field 
  • At least 3-years’ experience managing direct service residential programs
  • Direct experience working in a 24/7 shelter environment or similar program
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of 5 or more
  • Strong leadership and system management skills
  • Strengths in the areas of empathy, listening, problem-solving, and decision-making

Shelter Operations Staff​

The Charter House Coalition Emergency Shelter is looking to hire 1-2 persons to join our team of operations staff. The primary responsibility of this team is to maintain a safe and consistent environment for our guests and to help build a trusting rapport with those we serve both in our shelter and throughout the county. Shelter Staff are professional, energetic, and compassionate individuals who work directly with our guests and are responsible for keeping our shelter community living in harmony.

Experience working or volunteering at an emergency shelter or in a similar setting is required. Additional training will be provided. Applicants can apply for a part-time or full-time position; we are currently accepting applications for awake overnight shifts and day shifts including weekends. Charter House is open 365 days a year, and we answer the needs of those seeking emergency assistance 24 hours a day. Hourly pay starts at $22.00. Full-time benefits eligible.

Housing Case Manager

Join us and become a positive force in the movement for housing stability. The Charter House Coalition Emergency Shelter for Individuals is accepting resumes for an experienced case manager. The successful candidate will be passionate about the delivery of essential services and improving people’s lives by respectfully endorsing their strengths and regularly working alongside with those we serve. Case Managers must be experienced and highly organized. Responsibilities will include assisting our guests and outreach clients with tasks that directly support long term housing plans, including the completion of applications to access benefits such as SNAP, medical insurance, social security/disability, employment and training opportunities, health care, and other human services referrals. Requirements
  • Passionate about our mission and able to confidently promote and communicate the philosophy, mission and values associated with removing the many layers of stigma surrounding the vulnerable population(s) we serve to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience overall, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to case management in a social service setting.
  • Familiarity with the Coordinated Entry platform and affordable housing resources.
  • Demonstration of professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have incredible integrity, positive energy, urgency and the ability to model appropriate boundaries at all times.
  • Proven use of common sense, grit and diligence within the work environment.
The Housing Case Manager consistently works cooperatively with all other Charter House staff, outside service providers, partner agencies, and volunteers. This role is full -time, Monday-Friday, hours negotiable between 7am and 6pm. Experience specific to navigating the complicated systems that support affordable housing are required for this role.
